1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Steamweaver Microventures, LLC ("Worldspring," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use worldspring.press and related services (the "Service").
Worldspring is a publishing platform for authored worlds and the stories they generate. Creators build worlds in the Workshop, run collaborative storytelling sessions in the Theater, and publish finished work in the Library.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you register, we collect your email address, a display name, date of birth, authentication credentials, and profile details such as a bio or avatar. Date of birth is used only to enforce the platform minimum age (13) and to keep mature worlds away from people under 18. It is not shown on public profiles.
- Content you create. Worlds, characters, locations, themes, rules, world bibles, uploaded source documents, and the tellings, chronicles, and editions produced through the Service. This is your creative work; how we handle it is described in Sections 3–5.
- Collaboration data. When you invite others into a world or a Theater session, we process the participants, roles, and contributions associated with that session.
- Communications. Messages you send us (support requests, feedback) and your responses to surveys or emails.
- Payment information. If you purchase credits or a paid plan, payment is processed by our payment provider. We do not store full payment card numbers; we receive limited details such as the last four digits, card type, and billing status.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data. Pages and rooms visited, features used, generation activity and credit consumption, session timing, and referring pages.
- Device and technical data. IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and approximate location derived from IP.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See Section 7.
Information from third parties
- If you sign in using a third-party provider (e.g. Google), we receive basic profile information (name, email) as permitted by that provider and your settings.
3. How we use your information
We use information to:
- Provide, maintain, and operate the Service, including generating tellings, images, and other output you request;
- Authenticate you and secure your account;
- Process payments, manage credit balances, and enforce usage limits;
- Enable collaboration and Theater sessions;
- Store, display, and let you export your worlds and published work;
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support;
- Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it;
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms;
- Comply with legal obligations.
If you plan to send marketing email: We may send you product news and tips. You can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link or your account settings.
4. How we generate content ("the Engine")
Worldspring generates text and images at your request — for example, expanding a world element, composing a telling, or generating an image. To do this, we send the relevant content you have created (and any instructions you provide) to third-party model providers who perform the generation on our behalf.
These providers process your content only to return the requested output to us. Under our commercial agreements with them, we understand they do not use your content to train their models.
We do not use your private creative content to train any of our own models. Upon request, we generate context and guidance on your writing and worldbuilding styles.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it with trusted third parties to run the Service. Each is bound by contract to protect your information and use it only to provide services to us (our current subprocessor list can be provided upon request).
Other creators
Content you publish to the Library, or share into a collaborative world or Theater session, is visible to the people you share it with — and, if you publish it publicly, to anyone who can access that published work.
Legal and safety
We may disclose information if required by law, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with legal process, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, or property of Worldspring, our users, or the public.
Business transfers
If Worldspring is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.
- Lapsed accounts. If your account or plan lapses, we do not delete your worlds. Consistent with how the Service is designed, your worlds are frozen in read-only form rather than removed, so you can return to them or export them as you wish.
- Deletion on request. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except where we must retain it to meet legal, tax, security, or fraud-prevention obligations.
- Backups. Residual copies may persist in secure backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the Service, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser, though disabling some may affect functionality.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Delete your information;
- Export your information — you can download your worlds at any time using Export / Import World Package;

- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these, contact us at privacy@worldspring.press. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
9. Regional privacy rights

You have the rights listed in Section 8, plus the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Name your EU/UK representative if you appoint one.

California (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To exercise your rights, contact privacy@worldspring.press. You may use an authorized agent, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

10. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at privacy@worldspring.press and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.
